The department of Foreign Affairs recently released the new edition of the publication *Bon Voyage*, But...* The booklet provides a listing of Canadian missions abroad, travel tips on a variety of pertinent topics such as passports, visas, medical care, health insurance, and much more. New traveller Exemptions Benefiting Canadians $20 exemption available after a 24-hr absence has been increased to $50. $100 exemption for absences of at least 48 hrs had doubled to $200 and the 7-day exemption has been increased from $300-$500. The once-a-year restriction of the 7-day exemption has been eliminated. In addition to the increases to traveller exemptions outlined earlier steps have been taken to improve Canadas border system and include a new program called CANPASS which enables customs officials to provide faster and more efficient service to low risk travellers. The CANPASS airports objective is to quickly process travellers who are frequent air travellers. Similar announcement have been made for land border crossings, for individuals who own private aircrafts and boats and also for remote customs offices. .On reviewing the Tax Grid for employee travel in the November edition of Horizons, YVR departures also incur a Departure Tax. . Air Canada announces the YUL-ATL sector will be discontinued Dec 6th and a new service YYZ to Philadelphia commencing Jan 8th. . Travelling to Asia via LHR - your baggage will only be checked to LHR and will have to be rechecked at LHR to final destination. This is due to the UK authorities not allowing unaccompanied baggage, a possibility with space available travel. .
